Unveiling Our Story

Our Vision

Director Sixx King

When we began crafting Jonesing: When Love is a Habit, we knew we were stepping into sacred territory. As a spiritual successor to the iconic film Love Jones, this project carries echoes of that timeless exploration of Black love, spoken word, and the beautiful messiness of connection. But let me be clear: Jonesing is not a remake—it’s a rebirth. A new voice. A standalone story with its own rhythm, its own pain, and its own redemption.

Where Love Jones gave us the poetry of falling in love, Jonesing dives into what happens after the poem ends—when love lingers, even when it no longer serves us. It’s about the relationships we romanticize, the habits we mistake for healing, and the bravery it takes to break cycles.

This story is raw, honest, and deeply human. It doesn’t offer easy answers, but it does ask real questions—about love, loss, identity, and what it means to come home to yourself after giving so much away.

As a director, I wanted to honor the spirit of films that came before us while boldly telling a story that reflects the emotional truth of today. Every member of this cast and crew poured their heart into this project, and the result is a film that feels familiar, yet completely its own.

Whether you're here because Love Jones changed your life, or you're discovering Jonesing with fresh eyes, I invite you to sit with this story. Let it stir something in you. Let it challenge and comfort you.

Thank you for being here. This is more than a film. It’s a conversation.

With love and gratitude,

Sixx King
